Assam observes the Birth Anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva every September of the year. This year, 567th Birth Anniversary of the saint Sankaradeva was observed with much traditional fervour across the state. Series of competition, seminars, cultural and religious programmes are lined up on the occation.
567th Birth Anniversary of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva, organized by the Dakshin Charigaon Anchalik Sankaradeva Jonmutsav Samiti, Jorhat at the No1 Bamun Gaon Bornamghar from 23rd to 25th September, 2015. On 23rd September a rally was organised in seven villages of the region. Nam-prasanga (Prayer) was performed at noon, at evening a Bhaona was organised in Namghar. On 24th September, early Morning Prayer was performed by local devotees, in Noon a religious seminar was organised where panellist talked about Sankaradeva’s contributions towards mankind. Evening was blessed by a Bhaona performed by children of the region. Last day was dominated by cultural dance, songs, and discussions. Local children performed Borgeet, Sattriya Dance, Folk Songs, etc. On last evening a Bhaona was performed by the organisers.
