87th Srimanta Sankardev Sangha Annual Conference 2018
87th session of the Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha (SSS) from February 7-10 at Pandit Raichahab Gopikaballav Goswami Samannay Khsetra, Dadhara Ahom Pathar, Dergaon, Assam. The site prepared for the session with 1.5 square kilometre area at the historic Dadhara Ahom Pathar, Dergaon along NH-37 has been named after the second Padadhikar of SSS, Pandit Raichahab Gopikaballav Goswami.
On 7th February, 1st Day, started with a cleanliness drive in the morning. That was followed by aasan activation at naatghar, main entrance inauguration, naamghar gate inauguration, among others.
The book fair and exhibition was inaugurated by the Principal of DKD College, Dr Ranjit Kumar Bordoloi. In the book releasing function chaired by Padadhikar Bhabendranath Deka, souvenir Bhakti Rasamrit with more than 500 pages and edited by chief editor Bodheswar Kakoti, was released by noted litterateur, Dr Nagen Saikia. The selected articles of Srimanta, the mouthpiece of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha and edited by Surendramohan Hazarika was be released by Dr Sanjiv Kumar Barkakati while the book Life and Talents of Pandit Gopikaballav Goswami, edited by Bodheswar Kakoti, was be released by Dr Ajit Baruah. 13 books was released on the day.
A total of 58 publishers in and outside of the State was take part in the book fair. In the exhibition 191 stalls was there where several establishments and government departments was take part. In the restricted trade fair, a total of 250 stalls was there.
On 9th February, 3rd Day, As many as 60,000 people with several cultural troops coming from the 51 district committees of SSS along with devotees from Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Manipur, Koch Bihar, Kameng etc. was take part in the procession. The main attraction was the Bhagavat Rath which was 15 feet high, 35 feet long and 9 feet wide on the model of a naamghar with several pictures of the creations of Sankardeva.
The open session was inaugurated by former Padadhikar of SSS Mukheswar Saikia was also addressed by Honorable Chief Minister of Assam Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain, State ministers Nava Kumar Doley, Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and journalist Zarir Hussain. Other dignitaries present on the occasion include Dr Kandarpa Kumar Deka, Surya Hazarika, Dr Hitesh Deka, Golaghat Deputy Commissioner Gaurav Bothra, Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Polash Changmai etc.
