Mission
Kraftinn’s goal is to promote products that are designed or manufactured by keeping the planet in mind. Kraftinn endeavours in making the transition from ever reducing timber products to high quality bamboo, meteke and Tule furnishings and utility items.
Our goal is to also blend in fashion, style and great prices with our product offerings. We will never further our goals of making these products widely used in the mainstream by offering products which are not aesthetically appealing or well priced. We appreciate your understanding of our position and with your support, our company will grow large and together we will create changes in manufacturing processes and make more eco-friendly products that are made and prove to the world that these types of products are in demand and wanted by consumers on the planet!
We also would like to promote the use of bamboos and other locally available natural materials and show how they may replace other hardwoods/ timbers. Towards this, we would love to be a resource to people who wish to study the various uses bamboos could be put to.

Kraftinn is not only a company, it is a blending hub. It brings together creativity, innovation and vision made tangible in its eco-friendly, resilient bamboo furniture and utilities. To our ever expanding product line we have recently added handicrafts and utility items made of water hyacinth reeds and hard stem Tule. All three materials are used by Kraftinn to craft sturdy, simple, handcrafted products for daily use.

Harder than oak and more stable than maple, bamboo is fast becoming a tree’s new best friend. When the world is fighting against the global warming challenge, Bamboo has the added cachet of being environmentally friendly. A 60-foot-tall bamboo cut for market takes 59 days to replace while a 60-foot tree takes 60 years, according to the International Network for Bamboo and Rattan.
Bamboo has a higher tensile strength than many alloys of steel, and a higher compressive strength than many mixtures of concrete. It even has a higher strength to weight ratio than graphite. Due to their strength and resilience, bamboo made structures have even withstood 9.0 magnitude earthquakes.
It is believed that if bamboo were planted on a mass basis it could completely reverse the effects of global warming in just 6 years, and provide a renewable source of food, building material, and erosion prevention.
Water Hyacinth, also known as Pani-Meteka or Meteka in Assamese, is a common sight for the people. This aquatic plant was considered a waste and a bit of a nuisance as it has a propensity to spread at an alarming rate in water bodies and cause stilting. For years it was either cleared up or left unused. This long neglected plant is on its way to become a economic blessing as a booming industry in Assam as it has also been found to be high quality manure for agriculture.
Hardstem Tule, also known as Bulrush, grows in wetlands or areas of seasonal flooding. The interior of each long tule stem is filled with spongy tissue packed with air cells. Tule stems are treated and then stored in coils to dry, then woven into coiled baskets. Only about the thickness of a toothpick, the split tule stems are both flexible and strong.
Assam is rich in all these amazing resources. It has a vibrant heritage of arts and crafts made of bamboo.
